Our first aid for primary school awards are aimed at fulfilling the national curriculum PSHE strand of first aid.

Children take part in hands on first aid sessions with experienced instructors. The session is delivered through fun, hands-on activities.
All equipment is supplied, and children will receive first aid certificates after training.

Courses available, include:
Mini Medics
Years 5 and 6
The mini medics session introduces children to basic first aid skills.

Children will engage in practical activities to learn various first aid techniques, including when and how to give CPR and use a defibrillator. The session also covers how to help people who are experiencing choking, bleeding, head injuries, and other medical issues.

This training provides an additional educational experience as children complete their primary school years and aims to equip them with basic knowledge and practical confidence in first aid.
First Aid Awards
Years 1 - 6
Our comprehensive first aid awards programme ensures every child in Years 1 to 6 receives age-appropriate first aid training. Each year, specialist trainers visit classrooms, guiding children through practical first aid scenarios tailored to their developmental stage.

  • Year 1: Introduction to basic first aid, including helping friends with minor playground injuries.
  • Year 2: Focuses on safety, how to contact the emergency services, and following instructions from 999. This includes checking for breathing and placing individuals into the recovery position.
  • Year 3: Examines how to help people who are choking, bleeding or suffering a burn.
  • Year 4: Focuses on treating people with broken bones, head injuries, and fainting.
  • Year 5: Addresses the care of unconscious casualties and considers situations such as seizures, severe allergic reactions, asthma attacks, and choking.
  • Year 6: Identifying when CPR is required, with high-quality training on CPR techniques and using a defibrillator.
Annual visits ensure children advance through each level of the programme, building on their skills every year. This structured approach empowers children to become confident and capable first aiders by the time they complete Year 6.
First Aid Awards & CPR
Years 2, 4 & 6
Our First Aid and CPR Awards programme is offered annually to children in Years 2, 4, and 6, ensuring essential life-saving skills are introduced and refreshed at key stages throughout their school journey.

  • Year 2: Children learn the importance of staying safe and are introduced to basic first aid skills tailored for the playground and playtime with friends.
  • Year 4: Children will explore basic first aid skills, treating minor injuries such as cuts, responding to choking incidents, and addressing potential head injuries.
  • Year 6: Children develop advanced first aid skills, including how to assist someone who is unconscious but breathing, assess injuries, place someone in the recovery position, and respond to medical situations like fainting or severe allergic reactions. Children also have the unique opportunity to see a defibrillator in action and ask questions, deepening their understanding of this vital device.
All year groups take part in a hands-on CPR workshop, where they learn to recognise when CPR is needed and how to perform it correctly. Revisiting these skills every two years, means children’ progress through our Bronze, Silver, and Gold Awards, helping Children build confidence and competence in first aid and CPR with each stage.
